Well, this is Alex speaking BTW :) Hello.
Cinematically, it’s kind of a perfect movie in my opinion. It’s beautifully shot, the costumes are unbelievably stunning, and the casting, is impeccable. I think the Director, Stephen Frears, works really well with Actors. At least, that’s the impression I got from these performances.
The story itself doesn’t particularly focus on any historical events. It is about manipulative, beautiful, rich people playing mind games and the game turning around and playing them in the end. Glenn and John Malkovich especially have a really delicious chemistry that is filled with sexual tension. It’s a fun film if you love a really well made movie about malicious spoiled people in corsets and flamboyant wigs. It’s gorgeous. I definitely recommend it. And Glenn’s performance will absolutely blow you away. And will probably make you angry that she doesn’t have an Oscar yet lol
